Sporobolus heterolepis

Common Name: 'Prairie dropseed'

An attractive, slow-growing, clump-forming deciduous grass. Mounds of fine mid-green leaves are topped by stems bearing a haze of small pink flowers opening pink and fading to silver. In autumn the foliage turns golden with orange hues, fading to light bronze in winter. Jul-Sep. H75cm S75cm.

Care Instructions

Best grown in full sun and well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. A good choice for prairie plantings.
