Terms and Conditions

Delivery of Orders

Delivery charges are for delivery to most areas in mainland UK. Please contact us for rates to the Highlands and Islands and Northern Ireland. Unfortunately we are unable to send to addresses outside of the UK at present. Further information can be found on our Delivery Information page.

For most deliveries we use a next day or two day, trackable courier service although some smaller packages may be sent by Royal Mail first class post and orders to some areas make take longer. We try to send all year round weather permitting.

Availability

We try to make sure that the plants listed on our website are in stock and that once sold out they are removed from the list until they become available again. However, while we endeavour to keep the on-line list up-to-date there may be times when an item that you ordered is sold out. We will notify you by email should such a situation occur.

Substitutes

It is our policy not to substitute plants if something is out of stock. However if you wish to suggest alternatives if this were to happen then please do so.

Returns

Should you consider our goods and services to be defective or sub-standard, please email Macplants at info@macplants.co.uk or telephone 01875 341179. See our Returns page for further information.

Responsibility

Complaints should be made within seven days of receipt of your order. No responsibility can be accepted after planting since drought, pests and diseases may take their toll.

Privacy

At Macplants we are committed to respecting your privacy. This means that our personal information will not be disclosed to third parties and will only be used by us for the purposes of processing your order. At Macplants we take the security of personal information seriously and aim to comply fully with the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which came in to force on 25th May 2018. Please visit our Privacy policy for further details.

On Receiving Your Plants

Open the parcel immediately and remove the plants. After checking them carefully we suggest that they are planted immediately. However should this not be possible then we recommend that you water them and stand them in a cool, sheltered place out of doors.

If the parcel has been held up and remained unopened for several days then the plants may look etiolated. In this case keep the unpacked plants in a light, frost-free position to acclimatise. This may take several days.

Depending on the time of year, your plants may have been cut back. We do not do this unless we need to or if the plant is in dormancy - mostly autumn and winter but occasionally at other times of the year. This is entirely normal for those plants where this has been done and will not affect their viability.

About Us

Macplants are a long-established, family-run business. We are central/southern Scotland's largest growers of herbaceous perennials, alpines, ferns and ornamental grasses and have our plant centre open to the public in East Lothian, close to Edinburgh. We also supply a diverse range of trade clients both in the landscape and garden centre sectors.
