Trillium erectumCommon Name: 'Birthroot'
AGM. Outward facing, three petalled, mahogany-red flowers with a black centre are held above a whorl of three green leaves. Apr-May. H45cm S30cm.
Requires a good, moist but well-drained soil in semi-shade or deep shade and benefits from plenty of added leaf mould. It can be slow to establish and is best left undisturbed to gradually build up a good clump. Not for impatient gardeners. This is a relatively easy Trillium to grow.
