Persicaria amplexicaulis

Synonym(s): Bistorta amplexicaulis, Polygonum amplexicaule Common Name: 'Red bistort'

This is a robust, floriferous, easy to grow clump-forming perennial which produces very narrow spikes of brick-red flowers over an incredibly long season. The leaves form a vigorous weed-suppressing clump but the long-stemmed flowers add an open, airy impression. Jul-Oct. H120cm S90cm.

Care Instructions

Best grown in any moist, fertile soil in sun or partial shade but is also tolerant of poorer and drier conditions. Super for adding late season vertical interest in the border. This charming plant would fit well into any naturalistic planting scheme. Good ground cover especially for clay soils. Good with grasses such as Deschampsia cespitosa.

Plant No: 2295
