Iris foetidissima
Common Name: 'Gladwyn iris', 'Stinking iris'AGM. A native clump-forming perennial with glossy, evergreen, sword-shaped leaves and small, yellow-tinged, dull purple flowers followed by seed pods which open to show off attractive large scarlet-orange seeds in the autumn and into winter. Care Instructions
Best grown in well-drained, neutral to slightly acid loam but will tolerate most soils in full sun, partial shade or shade. The 'Gladwyn iris' is a useful subject for dry shade but also thrives in moister conditions. The attractive open seed pods and the evergreen leaves make this a great plant for late autumn and winter interest in the garden.
Ingestion may cause severe discomfort.
