Hemerocallis 'Stafford'

Common Name: 'Day lily'

AGM. A reliable old variety that still takes a lot of beating. This robust, clump-forming perennial with narrow leaves has large, rich rusty-red flowers which have a star-like form and are produced later than those of most other varieties. They last only for a day but are borne in almost continual succession. Aug-Sep. H75cm S60cm.

Care Instructions

Best grown in moist, fertile soil and sun or partial shade. Tolerant of a wide range of conditions, even boggy soils, but responds well to good feeding. Drought and shade reduce flowering. Divide every so often to maintain vigour. Combines well with Rudbeckia ‘Goldsturm’ and Heleniums.
