Helleborus x hybridus purple-flowered

Synonym(s): Helleborus orientalis purple-flowered Common Name: 'Lenten rose'

A semi-evergreen clump-forming perennial with divided glossy, green leaves. These purple-flowered seedlings vary in colour from dusky purple to deep plum. Feb-Apr. H45cm S45cm.

Care Instructions

We suggest that you should buy these in flower to ensure that you get the exact colour that you would like. Grow in a moist, fertile soil in sun or part shade. Mulch well in autumn. Relatively easy to grow but slow to establish. Cut off the old leaves in January before the flowers emerge. This shows off the flowers to best effect and fresh, new leaves quickly emerge as the flowers fade.

  • Harmful if eaten/skin irritant
