Cardiocrinum giganteum

Common Name: 'Giant Himalayan lily'

It takes several years for this enormous Lily to build up enough strength to flower but when it eventually does so it is extremely impressive. Huge white trumpets with maroon throats crown the towering stems. May-Jul. H200cm S50cm.

Care Instructions

Plant at soil level in moist, humus-rich conditions in semi-shade. Intolerant of hot or dry sites. The bulbs die after flowering but usually produce offsets and copious amounts of seed. It takes 5-7 years to produce flowering size plants from seed. The dried seed heads can be used in flower arrangements.
