Bergenia ciliata

Common Name: 'Elephant's Ears'

A choice species with large deep green leaves with wavy margins with fine white hairs. Pale pink flowers which age darker, are borne in spring on upright stems. Apr-May. H30cm S60cm.

Care Instructions

Best grown in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil in sun or partial shade. Dislikes hot, dry conditions but tolerates poor soil and exposed sites. Unlike most forms, this species is deciduous and will die right back for the winter. Protect from early spring frosts by mulching with leaves in autumn.
